E-Guruvandana

2020

Dear Teacher!

On the occasion of Guruvandana, an ancient Hindu culture, I want to take this opportunity to share with you how much I enjoy your class. I really appreciate everything that you do, from the long hours that you put into the work, to the care that you show every student and the patience you have when teaching, even during these trying times.

Today, I want to offer my gratitude to you through the Hindu tradition of Guruvandana. Guruvandana is an ancient Hindu culture of honoring teachers. ‘Guru' means teacher and ‘vandana' means to 'pay respects'. Under this tradition, a ‘shishya' (student) offers his/her respect to the teachers by touching their feet and the teachers gives him/her their blessings.

Since last 7 years, Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh of USA (HSS), a Hindu organization conducts Guruvandana as an event in many cities all across USA. where we invite teachers and students together. At this event we honor teachers in a Hindu way by applying tilak on their forehead, asking for their blessings, lighting an oil lamp, etc. and also present cultural program. The enclosed link gives a glimpse of the way we honor the teachers. You can also find out more about Guruvandana event here.

This year, due to the COVID situation, I am instead asking for your blessings online. My Guruvandana would not be complete without them. It would really mean a lot to me if you could visit the link below, leave your comments, and give me your blessings.

Thank you!
